How to Enable or Disable Cookies

Cookies help sites remember information about your visit, like your preferred language and other settings. With this information, sites can make your next visit easier and the site more useful to you. Cookies need to be enabled on your browser to use your Google Account and any Google services that require a Google Account, such as Gmail.

Enable or disable cookies

Google Chrome
  1. Click the Chrome menu icon Chrome menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Near the bottom of the page, click Show advanced settings.
  4. In the "Privacy" section, click Content settings.
  5. Enable or disable cookies:
    • To enable cookies, select Allow local data to be set (recommended).
    • To disable cookies, select Block sites from setting any data.
  6. Click Done to save.


Mozilla Firefox

To enable or disable your cookies, click on the "Tools" menu in the menu bar at the top of your browser window and then select "Options"; if you're not using the menu bar, click on the "Firefox" button at the top-left corner, and then click on "Options".

A dialog titled "Options" will appear, so select the "Privacy" tab at the top of that dialog; in the "History" section you'll you can change the drop down next to "Firefox will" to "Use custom settings for history", and once you've done that you'll see a series of checkboxes to customize how Firefox will handle your history, including the option to enable or disable cookies; you also have the option to disable just third party cookies, which are the ones that are mostly used to track your activity across websites. So, you may check or uncheck those options to enable or disable cookies, and then you can save the changes with the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog.

1. Step Open Internet Explorer 9

2. Step Click on the Tools icon on the very right at the top and then on Internet Options:

3. Step Next, at the top switch to the tab Privacy and click on the Advanced button:

4. Step Now, you can Allow or Block First-Party Cookies and Third-Party Cookies. Additionally you can always enable Session Cookies.

IE9 and IE10 are very similar, so you can follow the instructions above for IE9.
