Flush DNS on Windows: ipconfig /flushdns + Fixes If It Fails

Flush DNS on Windows in 10 seconds: open CMD and run ipconfig /flushdns. Plus the release/renew fix when it fails, and Mac and Chrome DNS cache commands.

How to flush DNS on Windows 11 and 10

  1. Press the Windows key, type cmd, and open Command Prompt.
  2. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
  3. You should see: "Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache."

If you see "The requested operation requires elevation", close the window, right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator, then run the command again.

Website still not loading? Run the full reset

In Command Prompt as administrator, run these one at a time, then restart your PC:

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
netsh winsock reset

Flush DNS on Mac

Open Terminal and run:

sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

Clear Chrome's DNS cache

Go to chrome://net-internals/#dns and click Clear host cache.

Just moved your domain or changed DNS records? New records can take up to 24–48 hours to reach every network, even after you flush your own cache. Contact O2O support if your site is still unreachable after that.
